Review: Gone Girl

Gone GirlGone Girl by Gillian Flynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first time I read a book after watching the movie. And I still enjoyed the book every bit. Yes, even when I knew all the twists and turns. The credit goes to the awesome writing and the well-developed characters. I absolutely loved the multiple layers, complexities and the nuances of the characters. Some of the cliches in a marriage were very well observed and written and sometimes actually hilarious.

A great read indeed.

Review – All in the Mind

All in the Mind: Reincarnation, Hypnotic Regression, Stigmata, Multiple Personality, and Other Little-Understood Powers of the MindAll in the Mind: Reincarnation, Hypnotic Regression, Stigmata, Multiple Personality, and Other Little-Understood Powers of the Mind by Ian Wilson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book is the first of its kind that I have read. As the title says, it provides case-studies and their analysis on the topics like hypnosis, reincarnation, multiple personalties and other ‘mind-games’. This book brings to notice the amazing powers of human mind and that how very little understanding of it we have at present. It also emphasized on the absolute necessity of a thorough scientific analysis and observations before jumping to fancy conclusions. Many of the cases made an interesting and thought-provoking read. Although it felt that some cases were just like the ones described before and didn’t add too much value to the reader, esp for the ones who are not looking into too much of the science or psychology/psychiatry aspects.
Overall it is a nice read for a non-expert.
